A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield divided bendwise blue and red and bearing a gold saber detailed black between a gold eagle and a white star. Attached below the shield is a black scroll inscribed "IMPETUM PERSEQUI" in gold.
Red and white are the colors traditionally used by Cavalry units. Gold is for excellence; blue represents the sky and the unit's theater of operations. The star, for Texas, denotes the unit's location while the eagle underscores their mission.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 17 June 1997.
